Life Around the Pond

The babies were about 1/4" when the ice covered the pond now they are about 2-3 inches long. One black fantail has a small orange spot on his tail. The mother was all black when she was a baby and turned bright orange as an adult. There is one calico (like the father) but couldn't see where he went to today.

The snow crocuses are popping up like mad now that it is warming up. These purple crocuses are next to the pond along w/some yellow and white ones. They multiply each year.

One lonely baby floating above the pond filter. Hopefully it will stay this clear when the algae starts to invade. We already sank a ball of straw under the waterfall. It actually keeps the algae in check with the bacteria in the decomposing straw.
